LeJeune Steel teamed up with Opus to work on
the Medtronic CRM South Building.
LeJeune’s ability to commit
to an aggressive 16 week schedule
was key to securing the job.
This office building stands
8 stories tall in the new, Medtronic
Cardiac Rhythm Management facility
expansion in Mounds View, Minnesota.
The Mounds View facility marks
the second major expansion project
in the past five years for Medtronic.
The LeJeune fabricated and built
460,000 square foot Corporate
World Headquarters opened in
Fridley in 2001.

This new Opus, Design—Build
campus consists of multiple
phases. The total plan is for
1.5-million-square-feet of office
and light manufacturing. Once
completed in 2007, over 3,000
Medtronic CRM employees will be situated
at the campus. |

LeJeune fabricated over 1,600 tons of structural
steel in their
Minneapolis Shop. Engineering
and Drafting was also
completed in Minneapolis by
LeJeune’s “in-house” professional
staff. The building features
a “Link” corridor
for access to adjacent structure.
This “Link” is
framed at all 8 levels. Composite
metal deck is prevalent throughout
the 383,500 square foot building.
The steel braced frame comprises
of 6 bays of Chevron style
hallow structural steel sections,
again at all 8 levels. The
pre-cast facade is
be supported by steel outriggers
shop attached to the LeJeune
Columns. Management of the
project is in the capable hands
of Brian Calley.
